UPDATED June 2: Arlington's free, festive, one-day-only music extravaganza returns Saturday, June 17 -- the Arlington Center for the Arts' sixth. More music follows from 6 to 8 p.m.
Porchfest is a grass-roots music festival where bands play on front porches across town. People walk, bike or drive around to enjoy six hours of free outdoor music, performances and visual-arts exhibits.
Porchfest runs from noon to 6 p.m., with a rain date of June 18.
Afterward, are you ready to rock? The gar age band BackPocket plays -- and you dance -- from 6 to 8 p.m. (same rain date).
Arlington’s homegrown music and dance party makes its rockin’ return after Porchtest. Arlington band BackPocket is tuning up for its appearance at Arlington’s coolest outdoor venue, Abe’s Global Service Station on Mass.Ave., East Arlington.
The garage gets a redesign with a stage, sound equipment, and a side street is closed for room to dance and socialize.
BackPocket is from Dan Fox’s Morningside Studio featuring local accomplished musicians along with special guests Ricky Navarro, percussionist, and backup singers the Torchtones. All aim to spark your urge to dance and enjoy an almost-summer evening.
The event is a free, family-friendly event brought to you by the Arlington Commission for the Arts and Culture (ACAC) in support of live arts and local vibrancy.
Also remember to support Arlington's businesses before or after the event, and arrive on foot, bike, boards, blades or public transportation.
