UPDATED May 27: The Coalition to Save the Mugar Wetlands's spring fund-raiser, the Edith Street Fair and Yard Sale, held May 6, raised $4,000, a May 10 email from the group said.
"Equally important was meeting and talking with neighbors, new and old, and spreading awareness," the email said. "Thank you to all who helped in putting this spring event together, with only a few weeks planning."
The fair, on Edith Street, a short street in southeast Arlington, included yard sales, games, a bake sale, raffles and a lemonade stand.
The coalition thanked Andrina’s Pizza for donating pizza and the following 10 Arlington businesses that donated raffle items:

- Jacqui’s Salon
- Maxima
- Yes!
- Roasted Granola
- Derby Farm
- Menotomy Grill
- Lotus Yoga
- Henry Bear’s Park
- Play Time
According to the email, all proceeds will go toward the coalition’s efforts to protect the nearby Mugar Wetlands, one of Arlington’s last and largest open spaces, essential for floodwater storage and an important wildlife habitat. The planned construction of the proposed Thorndike Place -- a four-story 124-unit apartment building plus 12 home ownership units in six duplex houses -- threatens this, according to the coalition.
