For details about the poetry reading, see below:
The poetry reading is slated for 1 to 3 p.m. on the third floor of the ACA, 20 Academy St., and is set to feature four of the poets from the Arts Arlington Red Letter Poem's Project, started by the immediate previous poet laureate, Steve Ratiner; he and current Poet Laureate Jean Flanagan are to host this reading.
According to an email to YourArlington from Flanagan, the project aims to highlight local poets and to create a sense of community in readers of poetry.
"It also shines a spotlight on our town as a vibrant center for a whole range of the creative arts. In such difficult times, it is simply a great pleasure to come together and enjoy poetry and music," Flanagan wrote.
Steven Cramer, Charles O. Hartman, Nathan McClain and Lee Varon are expected to be the featured poets that afternoon. Additionally, an accompanying violin performance from Elizabeth Burke is scheduled.
"The Open Studios of the Arlington Center for the Arts has given us a perfect venue and support for many years to celebrate poetry and to give members of our community peaceful moments to reflect on the spoken word," Flanagan wrote.
