UPDATED May 6: The local presence of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) asked residents to donate to its spring clothing drive, held April 27 and 28 at St. Camillus Church, 1185 Concord Turnpike, Arlington.

A news release noted that the need for used clothing is always high. In a recent email to YourArlington, SVdP society member Debbi LaValley wrote that the group was grateful for the many who donated items and made the event successful.

"People were so generous – the donations filled multiple vehicles to the brim; which was about the same, or a little more, than what we collected this past fall," LaValley wrote.

Items donated included both new and slightly used clothing such as men's and women's jackets, sweaters, shirts, pants, shoes and lots of children's clothes, according to LaValley.

The donations were sent to the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store in Woburn, 8 Summer St.
