Child soloist from Boston featured on cello on one pieceCSO 2024 Family Concert Poster

The Cambridge Symphony Orchestra (CSO) was the host for its hourlong family-friendly concert at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Arlington Town Hall, 730 Mass. Ave.

In addition to the music from "Peter and the Wolf," there was narration of the related story by the orchestra's trumpet player, Brian Bunnell.

Each year, CSO hosts a young string performer from the “El Sistema" inspired Boston String Academy, which provides string instrument instruction to children from urban neighborhoods in Boston. This year, the family concert is to include a solo from the young cellist William Parkes, playing Shostakovich's Cello Concerto No. 1.

The orchestra also played an excerpt from "Symphonie Fantastique" by Hector Berlioz.

Tickets were priced at $20 for adults and $10 for students or children.
