Fall River man stole car, goods, police say
A 30-year-old Fall River man faces five charges after his arrest Monday, April 11, following what police described as erratic driving on Mystic Street.
Jorge A. Palacios was charged following the events with motor vehicle larceny, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, failure to stop for police, operating with a suspended license and breaking-and-entering in the daytime.
In a report, police said that about 2:14 p.m., officers were dispatched to Broadway to investigate the report of a just-stolen motor vehicle, a white Toyota Yaris with Texas dealer plates.
A second officer said he found the vehicle in front of him southbound on Mystic at Russell. Police tried to stop the car, but the operator did not. The Yaris turned left onto Chestnut and went around other vehicles in traffic on the wrong side of the road, police said.
The first officer was driving toward the suspect, and police cars stopped, in front and back of the suspect. Palacios was arrested without incident.
While in custody, police went to a Broadway address for a report of breaking-and-entering into a vehicle in which several items were stolen. Police said the suspect had several of these.
