Hearing

Docket # 3747: 10 Sunnyside Ave.

Drawing of proposed housing at 10 Sunnyside.

The Housing Corporation of Arlington reported April 29 that it bought a piece of land at 10 Sunnyside Ave. last fall, and it is asking the town to approve the zoning needed to build affordable housing there. Residents may learn more on the HCA website.

HCA is proposing 43 new affordable apartments with a community room and outdoor deck. This building won't be completed until 2026. There are two ways to give comments:

1. Attend the continued Public Hearing on Tuesday, May 16, at 7:30 p.m. and share comments. It will be important for the Zoning Board of Appeals -- who is hosting this hearing -- to hear from residents. Commenters are asked to state name and address at the beginning of commenting.

Register for the May 16 hearing here >> Readers can see information about the project and the hearing on the Town's website

2. Those who cannot attend the hearing may instead email comments to: zba @ town.arlington.ma.us
Such emails will become part of the public record and may be included in future meeting agendas or notes online.

Those who may want to share comments but are nervous or aren't sure how to start may ask for assistance.
Erica Schwartz (ESchwarz @ HousingCorpArlington.org) can help speakers prepare.

A note: Tenants for these new apartments will be selected using a lottery in late 2025 or early 2026. HCA's current tenants may apply -- but HCA and Peabody staff will not have any ability to select tenants or promise existing tenants a place in the new building.
