The Town of Arlington has announced the fourth round of emergency tenant assistance, a program providing rental help for income-eligible households affected by the economic instability tied to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The program is funded through an additional allocation of Community Development Block Grant funds known as CDBG-CV, made possible by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act and a grant from the town's Community Preservation Act Committee. Additional information about the program is available at

The program is available for income-eligible individuals and families who rent in Arlington, who have a demonstrated gap in their income because of Covid-19 and who are at risk of losing their housing.

Up to $2,000

The program provides up to $2,000 per eligible household for up to three months (maximum of $6,000), in a payment made directly to the landlord. To qualify, the household must earn at or below 50 percent of the area median income as determined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Additionally, households that received assistance in the first, second and/or third round of the program may apply again, but there is no guarantee that assistance will be granted.

The program began accepting preapplications Nov. 17, and is open through noon Friday, Dec. 3.

All applications are screened for eligibility, and those applicants determined to be eligible will be invited to provide additional information necessary for consideration for assistance. Applicants will work with the staff in the Department of Planning and Community Development and our administrator, MCO Housing Services, to complete their application before receiving assistance. Preference is given to new applicants.

Most preapplication materials for the program are provided in English, Spanish, French, Japanese and Chinese. Reasonable accommodations and language assistance requests will be provided.
