Join town officials and residents on Friday, Nov. 11, as they gather to pay tribute on Veterans Day to our veterans and their families for their service to our nation.

All veterans are invited to join the march from Walgreen's, at 324 Mass. Ave., to the central fire station. Marchers are to step off at 10:30 a.m., followed by the ceremony after arrival at the Central Fire Station.

Involved in catering a free lunch for local veterans are Select Board Chair Len Diggins in partnership with Food Link, Minuteman Regional Vocational Technical High School and Arlington Veterans' Services. The luncheon is set for the Arlington Community Center, 27 Maple St., from noon to 2 p.m.

It is recommended that veterans call in advance to reserve a seat -- at 781-316-3400.

Following the luncheon, Jeff Chunglo, the director of veterans services, plans to conduct a presentation on the designs for the new Veteran Memorial Park and Honor Roll. The presentation is to review the existing conditions, the major areas requiring improvements and the plans for a new honor roll. The presentation includes renderings of the new park.

Following the presentation, Chunglo is to conduct a presentation about the newly signed PACT Act along with the Camp Lejeune Justice Act, which is included in this legislation. The PACT Act is the largest health-care and benefit expansion in VA history. There have been significant changes that will affect veterans of all eras and how they can tap into additional benefits and services.
