Japanese Bostonians Support Line Inc. -- JB Line for short -- invites the public to a fall fund-raising event. The Arlington based nonprofit plans to host “JB Line Week 2023” from Oct. 13 to Oct. 29.

JB Line is dedicated to supporting those in the Japanese and Japanese-American community throughout New England, according to a press release.

Their fund-raiser aims to “bring together experts and participants from around the world through a series of informative seminars, engaging events and an exciting online auction related to Japan and the Japanese community,” wrote JB Line President Satoko Watanabe.

Throughout the stated period in October, JB Line plans to host seminars, both online and hybrid, featuring prominent musicians and experts in the community. According to the organization, the hybrid approach was chosen to support a global audience.

This event is to include an online auction, with one prize expected to be a round trip to Japan. Proceeds from the participation fees and course charges are meant to support future activities and initiatives of the organization.

In May, the local nonprofit received a $45,000 grant from the Cummings Foundation, which provides funds to nonprofits in Essex, Middlesex and Suffolk counties. JB Line Inc representatives said that this grant has enabled the organization to increase its presence in the Arlington community and reach a more diverse population.

JB Line, Inc., was established in 2010 for the purpose of helping residents, immigrants and Japanese Americans in the New England region. JB Line provides a bilingual support line, case management, advocacy, senior visits, support groups and outreach.
