Chamber summer concerts

UPDATED July 11: The following information is from the Arlington Chamber of Commerce.

Whittemore Park's summer concert series began Wednesday, July 10, at 6:30 p.m., with Backpocket, a Boston band playing a mix of blues, soul, funk and rock.

The July 17 concert is "Blues Chasers," a local classic rock and blues band featuring Jim Doran (guitar/vocals), Garrett Nagle (guitar/vocals), Savannah Saint (bass/vocals), Denis Fullerton (drums/backing vocals), Matt Thenen (lead vocals/harmonica) and James Fullerton (keyboard).

On July 24 the scheduled entertainment is "2-Mile Radius," an all-Arlington good-time classic rock and blues band. It's made up of Ryan Barrett (drums), Bill Jaeger (keyboards), Ben Moynihan (lead guitar), Andy Pockrose (bass) and Jeff Pyle (harmonica and rhythm guitar). The music features strong harmonies and instrumental jams.

The July 31 show is set to be the "Soft Touch Dance Band," a classic big band with full horn and rhythm sections and vocalists specializing in swing-era music from the '40s to the '60s plus Broadway hits and classic rock favorites.

All shows will be free.

Upcoming member, community events 

The town's recreation department is set to host a free summer concert series at the Arlington Reservoir, 225 Lowell St. The concerts are scheduled to happen every other Thursday, sometimes Friday depending on inclement weather.

There was a performance June 27 and the next scheduled show is to occur July 11 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and can expect to enjoy local beers and food from vendors.
