The Hometown Media Awards is the foundation of the yearly awards program for Alliance for Community Media. It is established to honor and promote community media, community radio and local cable programs that are distributed on Public, Educational and Governmental access cable television channels.

Proceeds go to the ACM Foundation, which is exclusively used for facilitating, preserving and promoting education in community media. Each year, nearly 1,000 entries are submitted from community-access stations from all over the United States. A panel of judges from the industry evaluates the entries. Awards are presented to the most creative programs that address community needs, develop diverse community involvement, challenge conventional commercial television formats and move viewers to experience television in a different way.

"It is truly an honor to be recognized by our peers in an industry that focuses solely on hyperlocal news gathering and events that make an impact on Arlington residents," Barnd said. "Congratulations to everyone who is part of our ACMi News Team week after week."

The Hometown Media Awards Ceremony will be held during the annual conference in Chicago on Wednesday, June 29.
